Helping to identify, contain and control coronavirus, reduce the spread and save lives.
Anyone across the UK who shows symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste) can now get a free test to see if they have coronavirus.
Help protect family, friends and colleagues - go to nhs.uk/coronavirus to book a test or Call 119 (England, Wales and Northern Ireland only).
Anyone who tests positive for coronavirus will be contacted by the NHS and will be asked to share information about their recent interactions. By choosing to share information about those that you have had recent close contact with, you help identify, contain and control coronavirus, reduce the spread of the virus and save lives. Close contacts could include household members and those you have had direct contact with, or within 2 metres, for more than 15 minutes.
People who are contacted will be given clear information explaining what they must do and how they can access local support if needed. Country specific guidance is available at:
- England: gov.uk/coronavirus.
- Northern Ireland: nidirect.gov.uk/coronavirus
- Scotland: nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect
- Wales: gov.wales/coronavirus
Those having to self-isolate will be eligible for statutory sick pay if they are unable to work from home. This applies across the four nations of the UK.
Anyone with a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or a change in their sense of smell or taste is asked to immediately isolate and book a test at nhs.uk/coronavirus.
